SNEAKER STATION

Presented by Art-Work Agency at Harbour Town GC!

To celebrate the school holidays we activated Harbour Town Gold Coast with SNEAKER STATION, a pop-up booth featuring two local artists customising sneakers live in the centre.

Across September 23 and 24, Claudio Kirac, Emma Van Zaane and Sarah Huston transformed many pairs of shoes into unique works of art!

Meet the artists!

SARAH HUSTON

Sarah Huston is a cross-disciplinary professional with over a decade of experience working in the creative field on the Gold Coast, Australia, and internationally. She has worn many hats including creative director, designer, curator, producer, artist and founder of the skateboarding media platform, Yeah Girl. Sarah’s work within the skateboarding industry has given her a unique intersection of skills and experience across the arts and youth culture, which has informed her consultation work for brands and organisations working within those spaces.

Although the visual arts remain a core part of her work, skateboarding became a catalyst for exploring creative expression through other forms of physical movement and performance.

CLAUDIO KIRAC

Claudio’s career spans 25 years working as a professional artist, designer and photographer. His work investigates the crossover between contemporary art and popular culture and transcends the boundaries between analogue and digital media. His work has been exhibited in projects both nationally and internationally in Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, Tokyo, New York and Vienna, and is included in the collections of HOTA, The National Library of Australia and Louis Vuitton Asia Pacific.

EMMA VAN ZAANE

Emma Van Zaane is a Dutch/Australian artist and visual designer practicing from the Gold Coast / Yugambeh language region, working primarily across illustration, collage, and digital formats. Her elegant and feminine aesthetic is concerned with themes of nostalgia and nature, intended to evoke emotion and explore potential dreamlike realities. Van Zaane’s work takes form through considered and meticulous processes spanning the digital and physical realms. Responding to fashion, editorial photography, anime and Art Nouveau, her elegant and detail-oriented style hints at deeper personal narratives and dreamlike experiences.
