GranSlam! is a collaboration between performing arts company Everybody NOW! and aged-care provider Feros Care, two organisations who share a commitment to smashing stereotypes and supporting communities to live more boldly. The initiative caught the attention of Australia’s Sunrise program, which featured a segment on the project and the heartwarming experiences it provided for Gold Coast’s aged care residents.
The project aimed to provide seniors aged 70-98 years young with a platform to share their stories through poetry, which they developed in a series of slam poetry workshops, lead by poet and literary performer David Stavanger.
“Being given the opportunity to work alongside this group of seniors was a true privilege. I learnt a lot about myself through their stories, and had my mind opened through hearing their perspectives on life.
The work being done by Everybody NOW! and Feros Care is important. It’s life-changing not just for their participants, but also for those who get the joy of working alongside them. ”
We developed a bold visual brand and promotional materials to attract participants to the GRANSLAM! project, while also documenting the workshops and performances to create a record of the life-changing experience.
