Surrounded by rolling parklands and a salty lake, HOTA, Home of the Arts is a vibrant cultural precinct situated in the heart of the Gold Coast. Year-round, indoors and out, HOTA presents live music, theatre, dance, comedy, opera, kids shows, art, cinema from local, national and international artists and companies.
A brand new $60.5 million gallery is now the heart of HOTA, as part of the HOTA Project. The new HOTA Gallery will open on 8 May 2021! With unexpected art indoors and out, HOTA, Home of the Arts will become a must-see cultural destination.
HOTA Gallery is the largest public gallery outside a capital city in Australia with the ability and ambition to present exhibitions and projects of national and international scale.
Art-Work Agency was proud to install Hiromi Tango's New Now for SOLID GOLD: Artists from Paradise, the first-ever major exhibition at HOTA Gallery. The 28m x 4 m wall painting encapsulated a room and cylindrical plinths and a custom doorway. Art-Work Agency acted as both the project manager and installation team, installing the artwork over a 10-day period.
As big fans of Hiromi Tango’s artwork, our team was very excited to work inside the new gallery space and contribute to the first-ever exhibition. Our methodology was adapted to the unique nature of the space and the artist’s design. We became deeply familiar with each colour in the Rainbow, leaning into the transformation of the space.
Hiromi Tango is a Japanese-Australian artist whose work spans various mediums, including sculpture, drawings, photography, installation, and performance. As an artist, she is dedicated to generating healing conversations through arts engagement. Over recent years, Tango’s practice has become increasingly focused on neuroscientific concepts, posing questions around neuroplasticity, empathy, and epigenetics.
