Previously known as Bleached Arts, Placemakers* Gold Coast is the city's leading arts and cultural organisation.
As their appointed creative partners, Art-Work was engaged to develop a new visual brand to position the organisation as an experienced company trusted to always present world-class experiences.
Key to the Placemakers* Gold Coast brand is the concept of always delivering something more – a notion that is enforced by the asterisk which forms a key part of the logo and visual brand.
It's about peeling back the layers.
The asterisk, derived from Greek root word meaning “little star” symbolises the notion that there is something more – encouraging one to look a little deeper and open themselves to a new experience.
This notion of something more and new experiences transfers to the Placemakers* brand vision and purpose – which is all about delivering experiences that are transformational for participants. The visual brand was strategically design to characteristics of nimbleness, energy, approachability, experience, confidence and creativity – the driving values of the brand.
The brand colours were carefully selected to further communicate these values, while representing the notion of day and night time, speaking to the breadth of events Placemakers* delivers. The colours further speak to our sense of place, speaking to the contrasting reputation of the Gold Coast – known for its nightlife and party culture and also its natural beauty, the sunshine and the waterways.
The brand colours speak to the light and shade of the Gold Coast and Placemakers* as a company – inviting people to look deeper.
Art-Work delivered a comprehensive brand style guide, as well as a suite of marketing templates designed for Placemakers* to easily use in-house, including EDMs, stationery, presentation decks and social media templates.
